Privacy Policy

Family Life is committed to protecting the privacy of our users, especially children. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Children's Data

Children do not create their own accounts. Parents create and manage child profiles within the family. We collect only the child's display name, task completion records, and calculated allowance balances. We do not collect children's email addresses, birth dates, or device identifiers.

Parental Rights

Parents can review, export, and delete all data about their children at any time. Parents can also delete the entire family account, which permanently destroys all associated data.

Data We Collect

For adults: email address, display name, and password (stored securely as a hash). For children: display name and task/allowance records only.

Mobile Numbers and Texting Consent

We do not share mobile phone numbers or SMS consent data with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. Texting consent is used only to send the event messages described in our messaging policy, and replying STOP withdraws it at any time.

How We Protect Your Data

All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Each family's sensitive data is encrypted with a unique encryption key. Data is stored in Canada (AWS ca-central-1).

Data Deletion

When you delete your family, we use crypto-shredding: the encryption key is destroyed, making all data permanently unreadable. Individual member profiles can also be deleted.
